Price rise breaks the back of the people—BJP and Kejriwal Government do nothing to check the soaring prices of essential commodities—Devender Yadav

MPNN – AINA INDIA
NEW DELHI, July 22, 2024– Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Shri Devender Yadav said that due to the indifference of the BJP-led Central Government towards the common people, inflation has skyrocketed in the country, including Delhi, to put the lives of the people under hard circumstances. He said that the increase in the prices of essential food items immediately after the results of the Lok Sabha elections were announced make it clear that the BJP Government has allowed hoarders and black marketeers to thrive. He said that concerned about the personal protection of its capitalist friends, the Modi government has been continuously making the plate of the poor man more expensive, while the Kejriwal Government has been playhing tango with the BJP to put heavy financial burden on the common people, without bothering to check the prices of essential goods, including common vegetables like potato, oninion and tomato.

Shri Devender Yadav said that over the past few weeks, the prices of essential vegetables consumed by the poor people have increased manifold with tomato costing Rs 100 per kg, onion Rs 50 per kg, potato Rs 40 per kg, brinjal Rs 60 per kg, tinda Rs 119 per kg, beans Rs 89 per kg, capsicum Rs 119 per kg and cauliflower by Rs 139 per kg, while chilli was costing Rs 100 per kg and garlic Rs 200 per kg. He said that BJP and Aam Aadmi Party are not paying attention to the interests of poor people due to their mutual fight, and accusations against each other. He said that the prices of every item including milk, curd, pulses, oil, oilseeds are also skyrocketing.
Shri Devender Yadav said that while presenting the Economic Survey in Parliament, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the production of tomato crops has reduced due to disease, tomatoes have become expensive due to untimely monsoon rains and problems in transportation. Last year, onion crop was affected due to damage on account of rain and delay in sowing and prolonged drought also affected the Kharif crop. He said that the Union Finance Minister, shirking her responsibility, was terming inflation a matter of “global concern”, which was a complete betrayal of the people of the country.
Shri Devender Yadav said that the Finance Minister, in order to hide her failures said that the agriculture sector has to face challenges caused due to bad weather, depleting water bodies and damage to crops, etc. But she did not say anything about the agricultural laws that were implemented to favour BJP’s capitalist friends but were withdrawn by the Modi government due to relentless protest by the farmers, who have been fighting for the right price for their crops and the freedom to sell their crops directly in the market. He said that while the inflation rate has reached 9 percent, it is being declared as 7.5 percent, the public knows the truth.
Shri Devender Yadav said that though prices of essential commodities have been soaring and hotels and restaurants have also increased their rates, the canteen and hotel workers have not been getting hike in their wages, as they are being denied even minimum wages.
