NEW DELHI, May 5, 2024—Newly-elected President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Shri Devender Yadav took formal charge as DPCC president in the presence of thousands of Congress workers and leaders, who came from all corners of Delhi, at the laws of the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today. Congress workers, who started assembling at the DPCC lawns since 9.30 a.m overflowed the ground by 11 am, and there was not even standing space for the huge crowd when Shri Devender Yadav arrived, accompanied by former DPCC presidents, All India Congress Committee treasurer and MP Shri Ajay Maken and Chairman of the Election Management Committee and Co-ordination Committee Shri Subhash Chopra. Chairman of the DPCC Communications Department and ex-MLA Shri Anil Bhardwaj moderated the function, and said vote of thanks. He asserted that under the leadership of Shri Devender Yadav, Congress will be further strengthened to take the party to its powerful position enjoyed in the past.

At the outset, Shri Devender Yadav thanked, from the core of his heart, the Congress High Command, Congress president Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji, Smt. Sonia Gandhi Ji, Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji, Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Ji and Shri K.C.Venugopal Ji, for entrusting him with such a huge responsibility at a challenging time, when the country’s Constitution and democracy were under threat from the authoritarian BJP Government. He promised that he will rise to the occasion to live up to the faith and trust reposed on him by the Congress leadership, and strengthen the party in Delhi, which he said can be achieved only with the whole-hearted support and cooperation of the Congress workers.

“Congress is our mother, who needs us now. It’s our duty to stand by the family when times are hard, as the Constitution is under threat, and the Congress is passing through the most stressful and difficult times”, he said.

“My shoulders are strong. I am determined to face the challenge. My team is strong. I will show how to strengthen Congress in Delhi”, Shri Devender Yadav asserted in his address to the huge gathering of Congress workers and leaders. Shri Yadav said that though he comes from a political family strongly imbued in the Congress ideology and values, he never dreamt of rising to such levels after starting as a booth level worker. But he proved himself with hard work and his ability to deliver the results, when such demand was made on him, as he always took the workers along, and never discriminated against them.

“If an ordinary worker like me could be entrusted with such a big job, it shows that the party leadership reposes big responsibility on those who shows commitment and determination to consolidate and strengthen the party, which I will achieve in Delhi”, Shri Yadav added.

Shri Yadav said that the authoritarian BJP Government had played divisive politics in the past 10 years to put the Constitution under threat, and Congress will have to play a decisive role to protect the Constitution. He said that the country now needs the Congress, as only Shri Rahul Gandhi has been boldly raising the issues affecting the people like unemployment, price rise, during his Bharat Jodo Yatra. He said that the poor, labour, youth, women, the middle class and other category of people were suffering due to the pro-rich policies of the BJP Government. He said that the Congress manifesto reflects the needs and aspirations of the people who have been suffering because of the BJP.

Shri Yadav appealed to the Congress workers to ensure the victory of the three Congress candidates and the four INDIA Alliance candidates in Delhi in the Lok Sabha elections on May 25, and in the process reclaim the lost ground for Congress in the Capital. He appealed to the Congress workers to attract all sections of people to the Congress without any discrimination, to eradicate the hate politics of the BJP.

Shri Yadav said that in his political journey, Shri Subhash Chopra, who gave him his first ticket to contest the MCD election, and Shri Ajay Maken, who entrusted the challenging responsibility of reclaiming the Shalimar Bagh MCD ward in a bye-election by taking the vote share from 3 per cent to 36 per cent, had played decisive roles “and I have not looked back”. He said that he had risen from the grass-root level, and he is still rooted to the ground, by taking along people with him who had stood by him in thick and thin, and the Congress workers who stood by him “as I always treated the workers with respect and consideration”.

Shri Ajay Maken said that the Congress ideology was deeply embedded in the DNA of India, and the country was now looking upto the Congress to save the Constitution and democracy. He said that a concerted attack was being mounted on the Congress ideology, and the Congress workers should unitedly fight to protect our ideology and beliefs. He said that this fight was not that of Shri Rahul Gandhi, Shri Ajay Maken or Shri Devender Yadav, but it was a fight of the entire country, and which we should win. Shri Ajay Maken said that the question that rises now is about the country, the Constitution, unemployment, price rise, youth, women, small traders and shop keepers and poor labour, and we have to fight to protect them. He said that the BJP leaders have been saying quietly that if the BJP gets over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, then it will change the Constitution. He said that Shri Rahul Gandhi has been fighting for the rights of the people, from Parliament to the streets, as the BJP was transferring the country’s wealth into the hands of a few chosen rich people. He said that Shri Devender Yadav has been appointed the DPCC president at a most difficult time, but he has the competence to lead the party to victory not only in the coming Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, but also in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections.

Shri Subhash Chopra said that Shri Devender Yadav has created history as he was the second Congress leader to come from the rural background, after first Chief Minister of Delhi Ch. Bhram Prakash, to become the DPCC president. He said that Congress will unitedly fight Shri Rahul Gandhi’s fight for justice “Nyay” unitedly under Shri Devender Yadav’s leadership. He said that unemployment, price rise, youth, women, labour, farmers and other issues needed to be fought unitedly by the Congress to give justice to the suffering, for which Congress workers should put their best foot forward in ensuring the victory of not only the three Congress candidates, but also all the 7 Lok Sabha seats, including that of the INDIA Alliance partners.

भारी जनसैलाब के बीच दिल्ली कांग्रेस के नवनियुक्त अध्यक्ष श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने चुनौतीपूर्ण समय में विधिवत रूप से प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष का पद ग्रहण किया।

नई दिल्ली, 5 मई, 2024- दिल्ली प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी के नवनियुक्त अध्यक्ष श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने आज हजारों कांग्रेस कार्यकर्ताओं की मौजूदगी में विधिवत रूप से अध्यक्ष पद संभाल लिया। चुनौती पूर्ण समय में विधिवत रुप चार्ज संभालते हुए श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने मौजूद हजारों कांग्रेस कार्यकर्ताओं और नेताओं का आभार व्यक्त किया।

नवनियुक्त दिल्ली प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी के अध्यक्ष श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष श्री मल्लिकार्जुन खरगे जी, कांग्रेस पूर्व अध्यक्ष श्रीमती सोनिया गांधी जी, श्री राहुल गांधी जी, कांग्रेस महासचिव श्रीमती प्रियंका गांधी जी, के सी वेणुगोपाल सहित पार्टी हाईकमान का उन्हें दिल्ली की जिम्मेदारी सौंपने के लिए आभार व्यक्त किया।

श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने हजारों की संख्या में मौजूद कांग्रेस कार्यकर्ताओं को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि इस चुनौती पूर्ण समय में कांग्रेस नेतृत्व ने मुझ पर विश्वास जताकर जो जिम्मेदारी मुझे सौंपी है, मैं विश्वास दिलाता हूॅ उसे पूरी तरह निभाउॅगा, मुझे सिर्फ आपका साथ चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि आज इस कठिन समय में हमें एकजुट होकर संगठन को मजबूत करने के लिए से कांग्रेस की विचारधारा के अनुरुप काम करना होगा। उन्होंने कहा कि जो शिक्षा मुझे मेरे बड़ो से मिली है उस विचारधारा ने मुझे संघर्ष करना व ईमानदारी से काम करना सिखाया जिसकी बदौलत कभी पीछे देखा नही। मैंने कांग्रेस कार्यकर्ताओं में कभी भेदभाव और बांटने का काम नही किया। मैं हमेशा सभी को साथ लेकर चलने की कांग्रेस की विचारधारा में विश्वास रखता हूँ और भविष्य में कांग्रेस कार्यकर्ताओं को साथ लेकर काम करूंगा।

श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने कहा कि भाजपा की तानाशाह सरकार के 10 वर्षों के शासन में एकपक्ष नीति के चलते संविधान खतरे में है, हमें संविधान को बचाने के लिए लड़ाई लड़नी होगी। आज देश को कांग्रेस की जरुरत है, क्योंकि आज गरीब, मजदूर, युवा, महिला, किसान, निम्न व मध्यम वर्ग आज लगभग देश की 95 प्रतिशत जनसंख्या भाजपा के पूंजीपति संरक्षण की नीति से पीड़ित है, हमें मजबूती के साथ एकजुट होकर लोकतंत्र और संविधान को बचाने की लड़ाई लड़नी है। उन्होंने कहा कि हमारे नेता श्री राहुल गांधी जी ने भारत जोड़ो यात्रा और भारत जोड़ो न्याय यात्रा में देशवासियों के दर्द और परेशानियों को सुना और महसूस किया लोकसभा चुनाव में कांग्रेस का मेनिफेस्टो उसका प्रतिबिंब है। कांग्रेस पार्टी 5 न्याय और 25 गारंटी में निर्धारित युवा, नारी, हिस्सेदारी, किसान और श्रमिकों के अधिकारों और हितों के लिए सत्ता में आने के बाद सर्वप्रथम कदम उठाऐगी।

श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने मौजूद सभी कार्यकर्ता का आह्वान करते हुए कहा कि लोकसभा चुनाव में हमें मिलकर काम करना है और चुनौती भरे समय में 25 मई को दिल्ली की सभी सातों सीटों पर इंडिया गठबंधन के उम्मीदवारों को विजयी बनाकर हमें यह संघर्ष तब तक जारी रखना है जब तक कांग्रेस दिल्ली में पूरी पुरानी जमीन वापस नही लाती। उन्होंने कहा कि हमें दिल्ली के हर वर्ग, समुदाय, समाज, गरीब, मध्यम व निम्न वर्ग को साथ लेकर चलना होगा और आने वाले समय में कांग्रेस संगठन को मजबूत करके 2025 विधानसभा चुनाव में कांग्रेस को दिल्ली में बहुमत के साथ वापसी कराऐंगे।

कांग्रेस कोषाध्यक्ष श्री अजय माकन ने कहा कि कांग्रेस की विचारधारा इंडिया के डीएनए में है और देश कांग्रेस की ओर देख रहा है। आज जब चुनाव है, तब कांग्रेस संगठन और उसकी विचारधारा पर हमला किया जा रहा है, हमें एकजुट होकर विचारधारा लड़ाई लड़नी होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि यह लड़ाई राहुल गांधी, अजय माकन या देवेन्द्र यादव की नही है यह लड़ाई पूरे देश की है जिसे हमे जीतना है। उन्होंने कहा कि आज प्रश्न देश का, संविधान का, बेरोजगारी का, महंगाई का, महिलाओं, युवाओं, छोटे कामगारों, गरीब मजदूरों को बचाने है हम मिलकर लड़ाई लड़ेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि भाजपा नेता आज भी कहते है कि 400 होंगे तो संविधान बदल देंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि राहुल गांधी संसद से सड़क तक गरीबों, मजदूरों, वंचितों और जरुरतमंदों की के हक लड़ाई लड़ रहे है क्योंकि भाजपा सरकार सारा धन गिने चुने पूंजीपतियों को दे रही है, जबकि युवा, बेरोजगार, मध्यमवर्ग, गरीब भुखमरी की कगार पर खड़ा है। उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस पार्टी का इतिहास रहा है कि वो लम्बे समय तक विजय को देखा है। श्री देवेन्द्र यादव को क्षमता के अनुसार कांग्रेस नेतृत्व उन्हें पदोन्नति दी है। यह समय चुनौती का है आने वाले समय में देवेन्द्र यादव जी के नेतृत्व में कांग्रेस पार्टी एक बार फिर परचम लहराऐगी। उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस को कोई रोक नही सकता और 2025 के विधानसभा में कांग्रेस बहुमत प्राप्त करके वापसी करेगी।

श्री सुभाष चौपड़ा ने कहा कि मैं मुबारक देता हूँ देवेन्द्र यादव जी को जिन्होंने इतिहास रचा है। देवेन्द्र यादव जी ग्रामीण दिल्ली देहात से दूसरे दिल्ली कांग्रेस के अध्यक्ष बने है, इससे पहले श्री ब्रहम प्रकाश जी दिल्ली कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष बने थे। उन्होंने कहा कि राहुल गांधी जी की न्याय की लड़ाई को हम एकजुट होकर लड़ाई लड़ेंगे और संगठन को मजबूत बनाने के लिए काम करेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि बेरोजगारी, महंगाई, युवाओं, महिलाओं, मजदूरों, किसानों सबकी मिलकर लड़ाई लड़ेंगे और दिल्ली में इंडिया गठबंधन के तहत दिल्ली की सातों सीटों पर विजय हासिल करेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों की रक्षा करने और संविधान को बचाने की लड़ाई लड़ेंगे और देश को बांटने की भाजपा की मंशा को पूरा नही होने देंगे।
