Who will take the blame for the deaths and water-logging in Delhi—how long people will suffer the corruption and incompetence  of the Government—Devender Yadav

NEW DELHI, August 11, 2024—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that the Aam Aadmi Party Government’s failure to take necessary steps to prevent water-logging and water accumulation during the monsoon  have claimed the lives of many people in the Capital, the latest being the death of a poor man at Model Town late last night and  a 10-year-old boy at Aman Vihar when he fell into a water-filled ditch, and two days earlier, two boys drowned at Kirari, and before that three people died at Jahangirpuri and four Civil Services aspirants died at Old Rajender Nagar and Patel Nagar, taking the total number of people who lost their lives  in the 45 days to  23. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party should be held responsible for these tragedies as the focus of the Delhi Ministers and Government has been on irrelevant issues to highlight their personal image, and not on the welfare, safety and security of the people.

Shri Devender Yadav said that the BJP Government at the Centre, and the AAP Governments in Delhi and the MCD, never bothered to strengthen the infrastructure and take steps to prevent water-logging and water accumulation, but after people suffer on account of the inaction and inefficiency of these Governments,  blame games start, with both these parties trading charges and counter-charges without taking proper steps to rectify the administrative lapses and inefficiency.

Shri Devender Yadav said that when the lives of the people were at risk due to the incompetent  administration of the city by the Aam Aadmi Party Government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the AAP leaders were making a big show of the release of Manish Sisodia on bail after spending 17 months in Tihar jail in connection with the liquor scam and money laundering cases, they he would  have to face trial for these offences.

Shri Devender Yadav said that it has become a recurring feature to see sewers and drains  overflowing during the monsoon, with water-logging, accumulation of water and traffic jams becoming a constant feature for the past 10 years, but the AAP Government’s misplaced priority, and its slanging match with the BJP on each and every issue, had made the lives of the people miserable. He said that  the Government’s resources and time were wasted on fruitless pursuits and on advocates to get the jailed AAP leaders out.

Shri Devender Yadav said that before the first heavy monsoon rains lashed the Capital, Delhi Congress had written to the Lt. Governor to ensure that timely desilting was done by the concerned agencies to clear the clogged drains and sewers, but unfortunately, the AAP Government once again showed lack of purpose and  initiative to desilt the drains and sewers though crores  of rupees of public money are swindled every years in the name of desilting works. He said that Delhi Congress had brought to the notice of the LG that most of the drains and sewers were chocked with debris and silt, and they need to be cleared immediately, but the  LT Governor waited for the National Green Tribunal’s order to get the Barapullah drain desilted, following which tonnes of debris and garbage were taken out to ensure flow of the water. He asked the Lt. Governor, AAP Government, MCD, Delhi Development Authority and the NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council) who should be held responsible for the water-logging, deaths, traffic jams, vector-borne diseases etc in the city due to the  neglect and inaction by the Government agencies responsible for the efficient deliverance of civic services.

Shri Devender Yadav said that Congress had always come to the help and aid of the people, whether the party was in power or out of power, and often pointed out the serious flaws in governance to be rectified, but the AAP and BJP had little time to spare from their petty politicking, because of which the people of Delhi have been been suffering unending agony.

नई दिल्ली, 11 अगस्त, 2024 – दिल्ली प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी के अध्यक्ष श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने कहा कि आम आदमी पार्टी और भाजपा सरकारों की विफलताओं का खामियाजा दिल्ली के नागरिक अपनी जान देकर भुगत रहे हैं, भारी बारिश से हुए जल भराव के कारण दिल्लीवासियां की जान खतरे में है। उन्होंने कहा कि हर वर्ष दिल्ली में भारी बारिश होने से होने वाले जल भराव से, नाले, नालियां, गड्डे भरने, ट्रेफिक जाम, टूटी सड़के, इमारतें गिरने से लोगों की जान जा रही हैं परंतु भाजपा और आम आदमी पार्टी बदहाल हालात को सुधारने के लिए कुछ नही किया। उन्होंने पूछा कि पूछा कि आखिर यह सब कुछ कब तक चलेगा?

श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने कहा कि मानसून से पहले मैंने उपराज्यपाल को पत्र लिखा था कि वो सुनिश्चित करें कि ड्रेनेज सिस्टम पूरी तरह साफ हो। उन्होंने उपराज्यपाल से पूछा कि उन्हें बारापुला का निरीक्षण करने के लिए एनजीटी के आर्डर का इंतजार क्यों करना पड़ा? जबकि दिल्ली के आधे से अधिक नाले ठप पड़े है, जिसको हमने पहले ही बता दिया था। उपराज्यपाल के बारापुला निरीक्षण में साफ हो गया कि बारापुला की 12 खाड़ियों में से सिर्फ 5 चालू है और कुशक नाले की 7 में से 4 खाड़ियां चालू है। श्री यादव ने उपराज्यपाल, दिल्ली सरकार, डीडीए, दिल्ली नगर से पूछा कि वर्षों से ठप पड़े ड्रेनेज सिस्टम के लिए दोषी कौन है?

श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने कहा कि दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है कि 17 महीने बाद भ्रष्टाचार के आरोपी मनीष सिसोदिया की बेल के बाद एक तरफ जहां आम आदमी पार्टी जश्न मना रही थी, वहीं कल रात मॉडल टाउन में शाम को हादसे में एक गरीब व्यक्ति की मृत्यु हुई, अमन विहार में गड्डे में डूबने से 10 साल के बच्चे की मौत हुई, दो दिन पहले किराड़ी में डूब कर 2 बच्चों की मौत, जहांगीर पुरी में पिछले हफ्ते 3 लोगों की मौत और पटेल नगर व राजेन्द्र नगर की दर्दनाक छात्रों की मौत पर दिल्ली सदमें है। उन्होंने कहा कि हो सकता है हादसों में जान गंवाने वाले दिल्ली के वोटर न हो परंतु वो इंसान तो है। दिल्ली कांग्रेस मरने वालों के प्रति अपनी संवेदना प्रकट करती है और दुखी परिवारजनों के साथ खड़ी है।

श्री देवेन्द्र ने कहा कि दिल्ली कांग्रेस दिल्लीवालों के साथ खड़ी है और दिल्ली की समस्याओं को दिल्लीवालों के साथ मिलकर निपटाने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। मैं दिल्ली कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष होने के नाते दिल्ली के नागरिकों से वादा करता हूॅ कि जब तक सरकारें दिल्ली को सुव्यवस्थित नहीं कर देती कांग्रेस विपक्ष की भूमिका निभाते हुए भाजपा और आम आदमी पार्टी के खिलाफ अपनी लड़ाई लड़ती रहेगी।

श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने कहा कि केन्द्र में भाजपा सरकार है, दिल्ली और निगम में आम आदी पार्टी की सरकार है परंतु दोनों राजधानी में बढ़ती घटनाओं, दुर्घटनाओं और हादसों से पहले कोई सर्तकता नही बरत रहे है परंतु घटनाओं के बाद एक दूसरे पर दोष मढ़ने का काम बखूबी निभा रहे है, जो सिर्फ राजनीति लाभ उठाने के लिए कर रहे है। उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस हमेशा सकारात्मक और स्पष्ट विचार धारा के साथ जनहित में काम करती है, परंतु भाजपा जहां लोगों की मौत पर 26 साल बाद दिल्ली का सपना देख रही है वहीं आम आदमी पार्टी दिल्ली के हालात पर आंखे बंद कर, मनीष सिसोदिया की जमानत का जश्न मना रही है। सत्तासीन दलों की यह गतिविधियां दिल्ली के लिए चिंताजनक है।
