NEW DELHI, May 21, 2023—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch.Anil Kumar, along with senior leaders and workers, offered floral tribute to the builder of modern India in the 21st Century, former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna Shri Rajiv Gandhi, on his 32nd martyrdom day at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today.
Besides Ch. Anil Kumar, prominent others who offered floral tribute at the portrait of Rajivji were DPCC Communication Department Chairman / Ex MLA Sh Anil Bhardwaj, DPCC Vice President / Ex MLA Sh Jai Kishan, Ex MLA Sh Vijay Lochav, Dr Naresh Kumar, District Presidents Sh Satbir Sharma, Sh Dharam Pal Chandela, Sh Adesh Bhardwaj, Sh Sunil Kumar, Sh Abdul Wahid Qureshi, Sh Hidayatullah along with many congress leaders and workers.
He said that Shri Rajiv Gandhi envisioned a great future for India in the 21st Century by introducing computer and telecom revolution, and he devolved power to the people through the Panchayati Raj, and the fruits of which are being harvested by the people of India now. He said that if Karnataka became a hub of computer revolution, it was due to the great vision of Rajiviji, and the return of Congress to power in Karnataka was people’s validation of the Congress Government’s ability to deliver on its promises.
He said that while Congress Prime Ministers like Shri Rajiv Gandhi created assets and developments in the country, the BJP Government was selling the country’s assets to crony capitalists at throwaway prices when the common people were battling an existential crisis.
He said that the Modi Government was creating tension among the people with its regressive and divisive policies while Rajivji firmly believed in the unity and integrity of the country, to take the fruits of developments to all sections of people.
He said that Rajivji had put emphasis on education, development of the communication technology, computer revolution to empower the youth of the country, and a better deal for the farmers. He said that it was Rajivji who gave voting rights to 18-year-old youth, created revolution in the villages through the Panchayati Raj, and empowered women by giving 33 per reservation in the legislatures and jobs to women, to enable them to stand on their feet, chart out a different path for themselves. He said that Rajivji also put great thrust in creating jobs for the youth, and in their all-round development, with a modern vision.
