Virender Sachdeva’s Yamuna dip proves a risky gambit—exposes the failures of the Kejriwal and BJP Governments in cleaning up the noxious, dying river—Devender Yadav

NEW DELHI, October 26, 2024—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that Delhi BJP president Virender Sachdeva’s bravado of taking a dip in the noxious Yamuna waters turned out to be a risky gambit as  he  suffered  skin ailments and had to visit a hospital for treatment, which was also a reminder to him about the BJP keeping silent about the river pollution and raking up the issue only when elections come around, as a mere political stunt.

Shri Devender Yadav said that the AAP and BJP Governments only issue ‘advisory’ when pollution becomes too risky, without taking steps to solve the root causes of air and water pollution round-the-year.

Shri Devender Yadav said that keeping river Yamuna clean should be a regular activity, and not when the Chhath Puja festival or elections approach, which has been a constant feature with the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party leaders over the years. He said that many lofty promises are made to eradicate pollution, but such promises  remain only on paper without translating them into actions.

Shri Devender Yadav said that air and water pollution has become serious health concerns for the public, but the Kejriwal Government has not bothered to take effective steps to address these problems over the past 10 years. He said that AAP makes Winter Action Plan when the air and water get toxic. He said that instead of blaming neighbouring States, the Atishi Government should take steps to release  treated water into the Yamuna,  but the AAP Government has been allowing untreated sewer water to flow into Yamuna, and the drains and sewers have not been desilted over the years, further polluting the river.

Shri Devender Yadav said that if the AAP Government was serious about cleaning up the Yamuna, it could have at least taken urgent steps after the heavy monsoon rains washed away the putrid water, and such exercises should be held round-the-year so that the water becomes clean, and people can take a dip, as Kejriwal had promised to do  by 2025!

नई दिल्ली, 26 अक्टूबर, 2024- दिल्ली प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी के अध्यक्ष श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने कहा कि प्रदूषण नियंत्रण में चौतरफा फेल आम आदमी पार्टी की दिल्ली सरकार घोषणा करने, अधिकारियों की तैनाती करने, ड्रोन द्वारा निगरानी रखने जैसे काम तो कर रही है परंतु प्रदूषण पूरी तरह कैसे नियंत्रित किया जाए, इस पर किसी भी तरह से ध्यान नही दिया जा रहा है। जनता दिल्ली में प्रदूषण कम होने का इंतजार कर रही है जबकि सरकार प्रदूषण के 13 हॉटस्पॉट गिनाकर उन पर निगरानी रखने बात कर रही है। यह चिंताजनक है कि राजधानी गैस चैंबर बन चुकी है। आनन्द विहार में जहां एक्यूआई 401 के साथ पूरी दिल्ली में ए.क्यू.आई. गंभीर स्तर पर बना हुआ है।

श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने कहा कि दिल्ली भाजपा अध्यक्ष विरेन्द्र सचदेवा का यमुना के जहरीले पानी में डुबकी लगाने का साहस उनके लिए जोखिम भरा कदम साबित हुआ। डुबकी लगाने पर सचदेवा त्वचा संबंधी रोग से ग्रसित हो गए और इलाज के लिए अस्पताल जाना पड़ा। सचदेवा की यमुना में डुबकी ने यमुना के जहरीले पानी की सच्चाई को सबके सामने उजागर तो कर दिया लेकिन भाजपा ऐसे राजनीतिक स्टंट चुनावों के दौरान ही क्यों करती है।
श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री आतिशी के लाख दावों के बावजूद दिल्ली का प्रदूषण कम नही हो पाया है और दिल्ली के प्रदूषण में टूटी सड़कों से उड़ने वाली धूल और गड्डों, वाहन से निकलने वाला धुआं और पराली राजधानी में प्रदूषण का मुख्य कारण है जिस पर नियंत्रण पाने में सरकार पूरी तरह विफल रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि जहां केजरीवाल ने सड़क निरीक्षण को इंवेट बनाकर आतिशी के साथ ऐलान किया था कि 31 अक्टूबर तक दिल्ली की सभी सड़के बन जाऐंगी, लेकिन पीडब्लूडी द्वारा जारी आंकड़ों के अनुसार अक्टूबर में प्रतिदिन टूटी सड़कों की 30 और गड्डों की 120 शिकायतें प्रतिदिन मिल रही है। सितंबर में जहां 1059 शिकायते मिली अक्टूबर में शिकायतें 2700 से अधिक हो चुकी है। दिल्ली की सड़के बनाना तो दूर पीडब्लूडी टूटी सड़कें और गड्डे भरने में ही नाकाम साबित हो रही है।

श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने कहा कि यह चिंताजनक है कि दमघोटू प्रदूषण अब जानलेवा होने वाला साबित हो सकता है। लोगां को सांस लेने की समस्या के साथ जहां आखों में जलन की अधिक मामले सामने आ रहे है वहीं खांसी जुकाम, तेज सरदर्द के मरीजों की संख्या में 25 प्रतिशत की बढ़ोत्तरी हुई है और दो हफ्तों में मामले दुगने पहुॅच गए हैं। ऐसा पहली बार है कि प्रदूषण के कारण बुजुर्गों, बच्चों, महिलाओं के साथ युवाओं को भी अधिक परेशानी झेलनी पड़ रही है। अस्पतालों में प्रदूषण के कारण 15 प्रतिशत मरीजों की संख्या बढ़ गई है।

 
श्री देवेन्द्र यादव ने कहा कि प्रदूषण का कहर इतना बढ़ गया है कि स्कूलों में आउटडोर एक्टीविटी बंद कर दी गई है, प्रत्येक वर्ष प्रदूषण के कारण स्कूल दिसम्बर/जनवरी में बंद करने पड़ते है, परंतु पहला मौका है कि अक्टूबर में स्कूल प्रदूषण के कारण प्रभावित हुए है। प्रदूषण का कहर इतना गंभीर हो चुका है कि केन्द्र सरकार ने सार्वजनिक वाहन उपयोग करने की एडवाईजरी जारी करनी पड़ी। फसल के अवशेषों, कचरा जलाने से रोकने, त्यौहारों पर पटाखों के उपयोग न करने और डीजल जनरेटर पर निर्भरता को कम करने का कहा है, परंतु दिल्ली सरकार द्वारा ग्रेप-2 लागू करने के बावजूद प्रदूषण करने में पूरी तरह से नाकाम साबित हुई है।
