Delhi Congress took on Delhi Government and Central Government in view of Chhath Puja

Delhi Congress expressed deep sorrow over the failed policies of both the governments regarding solution to pollution, cleaning of Yamuna in view of Chhath Puja, and not running proper trains by the Central Government on Chhath festival.

Shri Lovely thanked the Lt. Governor for accepting the Congress demand to declare Chhath Puja as a Dry Day, but the Delhi Government did not make any arrangement to ensure clean water in the Yamuna, by writing to the Haryana Government to release fresh water into the river in advance. He said that spraying chemicals into the Yamuna to control the poisonous white broth emanating from factory effluents and seweage discharged into the river will only make the putrified water unfit for ablutions by devotees during Chhath Puja.  He said that the Delhi Government took no step to clean and ready the over 1000 Chhat Ghats in Delhi, leaving the responsibility to the Chhat Puja Samiti, which was facing severe fund crunch.

Shri Lovely said that when Congress was in power, the Government would start work on the Chhat Ghats well in advance to provide clean water and clean surroundings with tents and lights for the devotes to hold  Chhath Puja in peace. He said that during the “Nahay-Khay” festival, devotees are unable to take a holy dip in the Yamuna, nor the poor people are able to properly eat as the prices tomatoes are around Rs 70 per kg, which used to be Rs 20 per kg.

Shri Lovely also slammed the Railways for not running special trains for Poorvanchalis to travel to their native villages to celebrate the Chhath Puja as the Central Government has treated  Poorvanchalis in a step-motherly manner. He said that due to the highly polluted air and water in Delhi, most Poorvanchalis want to go to their villages to celebrate the Chhath Puja, but in the absence of special trains, most people would be forced to stay back in the polluted Delhi.

नई दिल्ली, 17 नवम्बर, 2023 – दिल्ली प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी के अध्यक्ष श्री अरविन्दर सिंह लवली ने कहा कि नहाए-खाय पर झाग के पानी में नहाने को मजबूर व्रती छठ महापर्व पर यमुना में जहरीला झाग का बढ़ता औसत पूर्वाचंलवासियों पर जल और वायु प्रदूषण की दोहरी मार पड़ रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि दिल्ली सरकार अपनी नाकामी छिपाने के लिए झाग खत्म करने के लिए कभी जहरीले केमिकल का छिड़काव करके यमुना को और दूषित कर रहे है जिससे व्रत रखने वालो को गंभीर रुप से बीमार होने का खतरा है।

श्री लवली ने कांग्रेस पार्टी की मांग पर उपराज्यपाल द्वारा छठ पर्व पर ड्राई डे घोषित करने पर दिल्ली की जनता की ओर से उनका आभार प्रकट किया। श्री लवली ने कहा कि नवम्बर का आधा महीना बीतने के बावजूद सरकार राजधानी में दमघोटू प्रदूषण से निजात दिलाने में नाकामयाब रही है और आज भी दिल्ली के अधिकतर क्षेत्रों में ए.क्यू.आई. 400 के पार तक रहा।

श्री अरविन्दर सिंह लवली ने कहा कि राजधानी में छठ महापर्व पर पूर्वांचल के लाखों लोगों को सुविधाएं देने में केन्द्र और राज्य सरकार दोनो पूरी तरह विफल साबित हुई है क्योंकि व्रती लोगों के लिए न यमुना घाटों पर प्रर्याप्त व्यवस्था की गई है। उन्होंने कहा कि नहाए-खाय के पर्व में श्रद्धालू न तो साफ जल में नहा पा रहे है और न ही उचित मूल्य में खा रहे है। श्री लवली ने कहा कि दिल्ली वालों सहित पूर्वाचंल के लोगों पर महंगाई की मार इस कदर पड़ रही है कि नवम्बर में 20 रुपये किलों मिलने वाला टमाटर भी 60-70 रुपये मिल रहा है और छठ पूजा के सामान की कीमतों पर भी सरकार का कोई नियंत्रण नही है।

श्री लवली ने कहा कि यह दुर्भाग्य है कि दिल्ली में पूर्वांचलवासियों की आस्था और विश्वास को कायम रखने के लिए छठ पूजा समिति दिल्ली भर में अपने स्तर पर पूजा अर्चना व स्वच्छ पानी सहित जन सुविधाओं आदि की भी व्यवस्था कर रही है।

श्री लवली ने छठ पूजा मनाने के लिए पूर्वांचलियों को उनके गांव तक जाने के लिए विशेष ट्रेने नहीं चलाने के लिए भी रेलवे की आलोचना की, क्योंकि केन्द्र सरकार ने पूर्वांचल के लोगों के साथ सौतेला व्यवहार किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि हर साल छठ पर्व से पूर्व लाखों पूर्वाचंली अपने घर जाते है जिस वजह से रेलवे स्टेशन सहित ट्रेनों में जानवरों की तरह ठस-ठस कर यात्रा करनी पड़ती है। यह दुर्भाग्य है कि इस वर्ष ट्रेनों में अत्यधिक भीड़ होने के कारण लोगां की मौत तक हो गई लेकिन रेलवे प्रशासन ने उचित प्रबंध नही किया।
