New Delhi: The Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Malik Moatasim Khan, has commented on the recently concluded Delhi State elections and spelt out expectations from the newly elected government of Delhi State.

In a statement to the media, the JIH Vice President said, “The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) governed Delhi for over a decade. However, despite getting two terms in power, it failed to present a clear ideological position on critical issues like social justice and the rights of religious minorities. In many instances, it remained a silent spectator when the constitutional rights of Delhi’s citizens specially Muslim minority were endangered. While welfare schemes and subsidies played a role in its governance, they were insufficient to ensure sustained public confidence. The AAP government also failed to keep many promises regarding clean drinking water, a clean environment, removing landfills, cleaning nalahs and garbage, women’s safety, and housing for slum dwellers. Discriminatory implementation of developmental initiatives in Muslim dominated areas of Delhi also contributed to AAP’s failure.
This electoral outcome proves that no political party can thrive in the long run without ideological clarity, political vision, and a strong commitment to constitutional values. Furthermore, the failure of the INDIA alliance partners, AAP and Congress, to forge a cohesive electoral strategy cost them heavily. If political alliances are to succeed in the future, they must be based on long-term strategic unity rather than short-term electoral calculations.”

Talking about the expectations from the new government, Malik Moatasim Khan stated, “As the nation’s capital, Delhi holds immense potential to emerge as a model city. Special focus should be given to environmental concerns, cleanliness and waste management, infrastructure improvement, and Safety and Security for women to create a “People-Friendly, Inclusive, and Well-Organized Urban Space.” The focus of the new government should be to position Delhi as a global example of progressive, inclusive and sustainable urban management. We urge the incoming government to adopt welfare-oriented policies for the poor. Governance must rise above petty politics; it should unite all citizens, maintain communal harmony and must pay special attention to development of minority concentrated areas. It must uphold moral and constitutional principles while formulating inclusive policies.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has always stood at the forefront of social service and constructive engagement in nation-building. While we extend our support to positive initiatives, our cooperation will be based on principles of truth and justice. We urge the new government of Delhi State to strive for justice, ethical governance, and the well-being of all its citizens.”
