New Delhi – “With India celebrating 75 years of Independence, it is heartening to see that NBT-India has chosen Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav as the theme for the fair as it will re-acquaint the countrymen with the stories of our forgotten heroes who sacrificed their all for the freedom of the nation,” said Hon’ble Minister of State for Education, Smt Annapurna Devi as she released two titles from National Book Trust, India’s India@75 series at the Theme Pavilion at New Delhi World Book Fair 2023 – “Nanaji Deshmukh Ek Mahamanav” by Manoj Kumar Mishr and “Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi” by Dhananjay Chopda.
“I am glad to see that New Delhi World Book Fair has upped its scale this year and the wide expanse of the fair ensures that there is something for everyone and every age group, be it children or adults.” In the following session at the Theme Pavilion – Prime Time Talk – Uday Mahurkar, Central Information Commissioner, GOI, talked about his latest book “Veer Savarkar: The man who could have prevented Partition”.
The Children’s Pavilion continued to be a hit with kids and parents with its back-to-back activities and programmes. In an interactive Storytelling session with Shivani Kanodia, children sang in chorus along with the storyteller. The story ‘Ban Ban Gende Ki Kahani’ was set in Kaziranga, Assam revolving around the protection of wildlife. The storytelling session, organized in collaboration with the IOCL, was attended by students from Vidya Jain Public School, Air Force School and Delhi World Public School. Vani, a class 5 student from Air Force School, Delhi, a first time visitor to the fair said that she was surprised to see NDWBF this exciting. “I will make sure to come back every year now,” she said. In another session, a panel discussion was organised by Worldreader on ‘Capacity Building for Teachers and Parents around reading at home to achieve NIPUN mission goals’ where Nagendra Goyal, Dy. Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Pragya Majumder, Head- Program Management & Development NEG FIRE, and Thomas Antony, CEO, NiSA, discussed and addressed the challenges faced by teachers and parents after the COVID-19 pandemic in bridging the gap between the changing patterns in children’s reading habits.
Manish Shukla’s first collection of poems ‘Nilambit Maun Ke Swar’, Rashmi Kaushal’s ‘Main Prem Hoon’, Sangeeta’s book ‘Bhartiya Adhyatm evam Dhyaan: Vartmaan Sandarch Mein’ were some of the titles released at the Lekhak Manch today. In the Author’s Connect session at the Authors’ Corner, the Publications Division (Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, GOI) organized a panel discussion on “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava” with Dr Varsha Das, Author, Shri Rajendra Bhatt, Author, Anupama Bhatnagar, DG, Publications Division, L. Madhunag, ADG, Publications Division, and Shubha Gupta, ADG, Publications Division. It was followed by a Book Launch of Vyas Mani Tripathi’s “Bharatiya Swadheenta Sangram and Andaman”.
New Delhi Book Fair 2023 is being organised by National Book Trust, India in collaboration with ITPO at the iconic Pragati Maidan from 25 February to 5 March 2023.
